book vs movie essays The Phantom Tollbooth. The King’s. The book The Phantom Tollbooth is a fantastic book, and in my opinion and much better than the 1970s movie. The film is directed by Chuck Jones and Abe Levitow. It is starred by: Butch Patrick, Mel Blanc, Daws Butler, and Candy Candido. But of course even though the homer's wife movie is terrible.

The Phantom Tollbooth Is Written by The King’s Norton Juster. A amazing writer in mine and homer's wife, many others opinion. I have not read other books by this author but i do know from The Phantom Tollbooth she is a creative writer. In this book the main characters are Milo (the most important character), Tock the The King’s Dream Essay watchdog (Milos best friend in by david the book) and the (Grumpy and very negative) Humbug. In the Dream Essay story there is a young boy named Milo who hates his life. In fact he hates any kind or type of life. Until Milo one day finds a mysterious box in his room containing a magical tollbooth.

Because Milo is bored with life he decides to go inside. As Milo travels into the tollbooth he finds many strange places and friends along his way to rescue the princesses of pure reason and sweet rhyme . In The Phantom Tollbooth most of the fun and exciting action takes place at the beautiful, dazzling castle in the air. But that is not the only place that Milo visits when he is in For Hockey Essay the tollbooth . Some of the places Milo visits are the boring slow Doldrums, the world of numbers and words. Which is The King’s called Digitopolis and Diconopilos. The film takes place in celery cell the same places as the book but skips around the order and leaves out The King’s, some of the homer's wife fun cool places Milo visits in The King’s the book. Places like the macroeconomics silent valley, Conclusions, and the forest of sight.

There are other places but those are some I know off the top of my head. Dream Essay. I think that leaving these places out is homer's wife a terrible thing. Each places has a reason to be in the story or else it would not be in the book at The King’s, all. Celery Cell. In the book I love how the action builds up dramatically as Milo, Tock, and Humbug enter the mountains of Essay ignorance. As they come closer to the mountains of ignorance they found themselves in she walks in beauty more trouble and danger than they were a minute ago. Dream Essay. Making it almost impossible to defeat the horrid demons wanting to stop them from Pursing My Passion For Hockey ever getting to the princesses.

At the end of the book I was shocked about the tollbooth disappearing so when Milo got home he was not able to go back the next day. At The end of the movie the same ending happened but i like that how in the book there was a letter explaining why it was gone and had the name at the bottom smeared so you didn't know who wrote the The King’s Dream Essay letter. But in the movie I like how it had his friend from the For Hockey Essay examples beginning still on the phone. I liked how His said he was only gone for 5 minutes instead of The King’s Dream Essay what seemed to be days for objectives milo. I thought it was cool how the tollbooth just plopped in his room when he was on the couch. In the movie at the end i also thought it was cool how the tollbooth just disappeared when he got out and landed in his friends room a second later. But about the The King’s Essay end when that happens did the same adventure happen to his friend. Like once he left did everything he did just disappear and everything was back to the beginning. I am impressed by how much detail is put into celery cell the book and movie to make questions like that pop into your brain. I love how Norton Juster shows Milos adventure from a different point of Dream view than the movie.

I think that the movie was lacking the adventure that the book brought to the table but still had some good time.. In my opinion the book was as beautifully written as a butterfly. But the movie was as terrible as something your dog left in the yard this morning. I would recommend this book 120%. But for the movie even though it has some good parts don't bother watching It it is she walks in beauty just a waste of time and an embarrassment to Norton Juster's book The Phantom Tollbooth . The Phantom Tollbooth.

By Andrew Meacham. The King’s Essay. The Norton Juster book, The Phantom Tollbooth , was by far no match to the movie. The book has more details and the movie leaves out most of the details that were in the book. The movie leaves plenty of characters out too, most are important or entertaining. I was thinking while watching the movie and I was like what is this I'm watching its like Im hallucinating, the book has way more details and information on what the My Passion Essay setting is. The movie at least kept you a little bit interested to see if the movie had a interesting detail that the book did not have. In the middle of the The King’s Dream book Milo, Tock, and Humbug visit The Forest of Sight, the homer's wife Valley of Sound, Point of View, and Conclusions.

They meet some unusual people like the Dream Essay Soundkeeper who gives you a suspicious feeling inside because he is like you cant have this but he gives this tour of his fortress. When I read the book Milo, Tock, and Humbug pretty much left the adventure of saving Rhyme and Reason and went to Pursing My Passion For Hockey, meeting all the new characters that come into the book, the Dream new adventure started when they entered The Forest of Sight. In the homer's wife movie they dont go to any of the places. I felt that Milo and Tock were just fascinated by the people that they were meeting but in Dream Essay the book the Humbug just didnt do much to help Milo and Tock. While Milo had just left his house past the tollbooth he went by the Whether Man in homer's wife Expectations but before that he was on the phone in the living room of his house but in the book he walks into his room and finds the tollbooth.

In the movie Milo meets Officer Short Shrift before Expectations and meets him in Dictionopolis but I noticed that the book is different because Milo only meets him in Dictionopolis. In the book Milo gets told the Lethargarians schedule but in the movie they do not tell him anything about their schedule. I thought the beginning was completely different in the movie from the book except for when in both the The King’s Dream movie and book they both met the Whether Man in Exceptions and Essay, when they met the Lethargarians in the Doldrums. I believe that Officer Short Shrift shouldn't have been in Dream the beginning because it didnt make much of celery cell a difference later in the movie besides Milo going to The King’s, jail. I believe you will like the book better than the movie because the movie gets in less detail than the book. In the book when Milo and Tock are at The Royal Banquet they have a huge crowd of people there but in the movie they do not have anybody there besides King Azaz, Humbug, and the Spelling Bee. In the movie King Azaz asked if anybody would volunteer and then the Spelling Bee stung Humbug and Humbug jumped up in pain.

I thought King Azaz would just double check with Humbug about him volunteering.King Azaz thought he was volunteering and Humbug went on homer's wife Milos and Tocks adventure. The King’s. Milo and Tock show a lot of thankfulness to King Azaz when he gave them all the ideas and homer's wife, a volunteer. The book can be called more imaginative than the The King’s Dream movie in many ways like the book has more details than the objectives movie which gives an The King’s Dream Essay, advantage to the book. The book stands out to me as being a very detailed adventurous journey through this unknown land. She Walks In Beauty. The movie is The King’s Dream a quick run through of the define ethics adventure and it even has the The King’s Dream wrong order of characters and places and leaves out parts from the book. When reading the in beauty book you feel like you just want it to end but once you see the movie you think wow, the Dream book is a whole lot better than the movie because the movie didnt add that real shock like the book did when they had a huge celebration at the end.

I thought it would be a smaller celebration but because it was big made me think that this is celery cell a big event physical and mentally to the people who live in this unknown land; it just makes it hard not to pick the book, so thats why I picked the classic story over the 1970s film. The Phantom Tollbooth. By: Jaden kelley. This is a story called The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster that was remade into a 1970s motion picture. A boy named Milo thinks nothing of life, when he goes one place he wants to be in another place and when he gets there he wants to go back. Essay. Personally I like the macroeconomics book more because the movie does not have as many characters, does not follow the same order ,and does not use the right actions of the character.

I like the book better for a number of reasons, the first raeson is the movie has less characters while they left out my favorite ones.My two favorite characters are Alec Bing and his brother Camby. Dream. I enjoy this character because Alec cannot see what's right in front of deontological him but what is behind the object so he basically sees through things and instead of growing up he grows down so he is always floating in mid air. I also like Camby because he doesn't really know who he really is, when Milo, Tock, and Humbug meet Camby he tells them different descriptions of Dream Essay himself but Milo, Tock, and Humbug say otherwise because he is giving false information. Another reason I like the book a whole lot more is because the movie has a completely different order than the homer's wife book and leaves out destinations. My most beloved destination is the island of Conclusions. On the island of Conclusions the gang meet one of my favorite characters Camby. Another favorite destination of mine is The King’s Silent valley where there is no sound (which the name implies) no one can speak whistle or even blast an airhorn.

Milo Tock and Humbug have to she walks in beauty, steal back at least one puny sound to blast out a cannon and break the walls of the Sound Sanctuary and release the sounds. In the Dream book he was about to say a word but he cleverly caught it and loaded it with the My Passion Essay examples last word. The last reason I like the Dream Essay book more than the movie is because the characters actions were different. Celery Cell. In the movie the Humbug was asleep and The King’s Dream, was awakened so suddenly that he woke up and stood up to make it look like he volunteered when in the book he actually volunteered in story by david arnason the book. In the movie Milo was inside of his apartment when he heard the tollbooth fall in The King’s Dream his room but in the book when Milo comes home tollbooth is already there. They also meet Sheriff Shirft in expectations when in the book they meet him in the marketplace. the movie is pretty confusing when it comes to the order. The book is better a large number of reasons. And when the movie ended I was very was disappointed in the content movie. Story By David Arnason. As the movie had normal less complicated language than the book. Also the movie left out good scenes from the book but I also enjoyed the movie because it was funny at some scenes.

But with the movie leaving out my favorite scenes and Essay, destinations the movie lets me down. But in For Hockey Essay examples the end no matter what book or movie it is the book always comes out on top. The Phantom Tollbooth. By Devin Hodges. I liked the book better because the movie left out a lot of action that the book had, it skipped around and Dream, it didnt bring feeling like the book did. Watching the movie was fun but, it made me mad and this is why. The movie skipped around. I didnt like that because it didnt flow; because you cant go from the Whether man to Discord and Dynne .It messes with the whole story. What didnt make sense in the movie was how Discord and Dynne came before Milo and Tock even made it to Dictionopolis. It makes the story not make any sense. In the Essay examples book the Which's story was a whole chapter. It made more sense in the book because it flowed; [ what I mean is that it doesnt make sense.] The movie left out a lot of stuff from the book.

It was a great movie but with a few flaws but in all the colorful Symphony in the book and in the movie Alec Bing didn't even show up meaning he wasnt even in the movie. . I like the details the movie added like the part when Milo was sitting in his car sinking into quicksand like gew of the of the Dream Essay doldrums. Plus, needs to add; the a girl's arnason Silent Valley.and was left out and because of that the movie missed vital parts. Hes a major part they need to add to the movie. The movie just doesnt feel complete without him. The feeling the The King’s Dream Essay book didnt bring was throughout the whole movie the book provides a lot of macroeconomics objectives feeling like during the Royal Banquet didnt have that much feeling because it was longer and added more detail. In the movie it was short and had less detail. The movie needs every part from the The King’s Dream Essay book to make a movie that everyone will love Alec Bing was the she walks in beauty one who brought them to the Colorful Symphony. The movie was not a waste of time it simply wasnt good. The movie should be a work in progress; to add all of the action I mentioned; like Alec Bing. If you like classics like Treasure Island then you will love this action packed momentous novel where Milo and his friends take off on a journey to save Rhyme and Reason.

This book will not leave you hanging. You will be left on the on the edge of The King’s your seat wondering what will happen next. Go ahead begin your journey beyond where anyone knows.

Plato#039;s Republic Republic [Politeia], Plato - Essay. Greek philosophical dialogues, written c. 3857-60 b.c. Regarded as Plato's most important work, the Republic has long been studied as a seminal text of the Western literary and philosophical canon. The King’s Dream! In this group of philosophical dialogues, Plato uses a conversational prose format to explore the nature of society, seeking to define the characteristics of an ideal society, or republic. Inspired by the teachings of his mentor, Socrates, in the Republic Plato theorizes that the answer to society's ills lies not in reforming political systems but in adopting philosophic principles as guidelines. To implement and oversee these principles in society, Plato proposes the objectives, creation of what he calls ruler philosophersindividuals who will lead society into Dream, an ethical existence based on predetermined principles that are expounded in macroeconomics, the Republic. In addition to the Republic, Plato, who founded and ran an academy in Athens for many years, wrote a number of other dialogues as well as numerous letters. Because of the influence of the ideas expressed in various dialogues, including the Dream, Republic , Plato has come to occupy a key position in the history of western philosophy and is often called the father of philosophic idealism. Additionally, he is lauded as a preeminent prose stylist and the Republic is celery cell regarded as one of the The King’s Essay, most exemplary texts in this genre, praised for its craftsmanship and poetic qualities. A citizen of Athens, Plato was born in approximately 428 b.c. and lived in a period of political tumult marked by homer's wife the recent death of the great Athenian statesman Pericles in The King’s Dream, 429 b.c. and the strife of the Peloponnesian War, which lasted from 431 to 404 b.c. The era also exhibited remarkable cultural vitality and included the great dramatists Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes, of whom Plato was a younger contemporary.

Plato was descended from homer's wife, a distinguished family of The King’s Essay statesmen; his mother's cousin Critias and his maternal uncle Charmides, both portrayed in eponymous dialogues, belonged to the Thirty Tyrants, the oligarchs who ruled Athens in Pursing My Passion examples, cooperation with Sparta after the Peloponnesian War. The unsettled political climate during the period gave rise to a class of itinerant professional instructors called Sophists who made their living teaching rhetoric and public speakingskills prized in the political arenaas well as geometry, astronomy, and arithmetical calculation. Essay! Socrateswhom the macroeconomics objectives, young Plato met while the elder Athenian discoursed in the streets and homes of the city on topics related to the virtuous lifeobjected to the aims of the Sophists, asserting that they manipulated language for their own ends, obfuscating and Dream Essay, confusing in order to succeed in argumentation, rather than elucidating and searching for objectives, truth. Known primarily through Plato's dialogues, Socrates advocated a quest for self-knowledge and cultivation of the soul, and claimed that contemplation is the noblest human activity. Plato's own career as a writer spanned the Dream, greater part of homer's wife his life. Dream! All of his known works, including thirty-four dialogues of varying length and thirteen epistles, are extant. Of these, the Republic is considered his greatest work because of the representative nature of its content as well as because of in beauty its importance as the premier example of ancient Greek prose. Plot and Major Characters. Composed as a dramatic dialogue among various characters, the principal among them Socrates, the Republic is divided into ten main books. This division, as scholars have repeatedly pointed out, is somewhat artificial and The King’s Dream Essay, was dictated more by the limitations of deontological book production in ancient timesin this case, the amount of material that would fit onto a papyrus rollrather than any internal break in the sequence of the argument.

The text begins with a prelude, where the main characters and setting are introduced and the subject of the dialoguejustice, or right conductexplained briefly. In addition to Socrates, who is the main narrator of the The King’s, dialogue, other characters include Glaucon and Adeimantus, elder brothers of Plato, and by david arnason, Polemarchus, a resident of Athens at whose house the The King’s Essay, conversation takes place. Also present are Thrasymachus, a Sophist and orator as well as the Essay examples, main respondent in Book I; Lysias and Euthydemus, Polemarchus's brothers; and Niceratus, Charmantides, and Cleitophon. Ostensibly a discussion about the nature of justice, expounded on first by Thrasymachus, who states the Sophist position that justice and its related conventions are rules that were imposed on society by those in power, the The King’s Essay, rest of the dialogue is mainly a response from Socrates to this statement. In essence, the argument to prove the inherent good of justice leads Plato, via Socrates, to celery cell lay out his vision of the ideal state, covering a wide range of topics, including the Dream, social, educational, psychological, moral, and philosophical aspects of the republic.

The main intention of the homer's wife, Republic is to define the principles that govern an ideal society. In doing so, Plato touches upon many important ideas about The King’s Dream Essay education, ethics, politics, and macroeconomics, morality in this text. Scholars have pointed out Essay, that the main argument of the Republic is partly a response to the political unrest and instability Plato witnessed in contemporary Athenian society. A Girl's By David Arnason! Following the end of the Peloponnesian War, Athens became a democracy of sorts, led mostly by laymen, who, in Plato's view, tended to Dream implement policies based more on popular demand rather than necessity or principle. Thus, Plato developed a perspective that viewed all contemporary forms of government as corrupt, theorizing that the only hope for finding true justice both for society and the individual lies in philosophy, and that mankind will have no respite from trouble until either real philosophers gain political power, or politicians become by some miracle true philosophers. This is the central theme of the Republic. In the context of this premise, Plato touches upon several major issues, focusing the most significant discussions on the nature and definition of ethics, education, and the organization of society and a girl's story arnason, politics, as well as religion and philosophy. In contrast to the Sophists, who advocated the primacy of The King’s Dream rhetoric over moral training, Plato proposes the creation of an educational system that focuses on the molding of character, with the ultimate goal of the educator being not just imparting knowledge, but also the ability to turn the mind's eye to the light so that it can see for itself. According to Plato, one of the main problems of his society was the inability to distinguish true reality from deontological ethics, reflections or images of reality. Plato employs his famous allegory of the cave to illustrate how mankind learns and Dream Essay, can be mislead by the manner in which he learns. Pursing My Passion For Hockey Essay Examples! Plato's preferred educational system strictly controls the upbringing of the ruling class in order to help them differentiate between appearance and reality and form correct views.

He advocates the Essay, study of mathematics and abstract ideas rather than art, music, or literature because the homer's wife, latter deal with representation of ideas, not ideas themselves; he even goes so far as to advocate censorship of art, when necessary, in the service of The King’s Dream Essay proper education. Another powerful focus in the Republic is the discussion of justice. Responding primarily to the Sophists' position, that morality is objectives important only because of the social and personal consequences that follow, Plato contends that morality and justice are key components of an The King’s Essay ideal society and that they must underlie all areas of human interaction. The Republic has a unique place in the history of Western literature because of homer's wife its importance as a literary, political, as well as philosophical text. Its reception in Essay, early commentaries was particularly positive and for many centuries it was regarded as an deontological ethics ideal text, based on The King’s Dream, its literary and homer's wife, thematic merits.

A. E. Taylor's introduction to his translation of the Republic is an example of this critical approach. Dream Essay! Later commentators have been more critical, however, and many twentieth-century studies of the Republic have emphasized the totalitarian nature of Plato's society, critiquing him for the degree of deontological power he invests in the philosopher rulers. Dream! In her introduction to the Republic Julia Annas remarks on the power of the text and the persuasiveness of Plato's assessments, noting that in some ways, the systematic treatment of such important subjects as morality, politics, and knowledge is designed to sweep the reader along, often leading first-time readers to either accept the premise of the text without question or to reject it entirely. After further study, though, writes Annas, the Republic reveals itself as a work of great complexity, and thus a text that rewards detailed analysis. In his assessment of the role of the good as it is explained by homer's wife Plato, Mitchell Miller also comments on The King’s Essay, the multilayered nature of ideas presented in the Republic and story, focuses his discussion by providing context from other contemporary sources of Greek prose. Other modern studies of Plato have also tended to focus on specific ideas explored in the Republic. For example, R. The King’s Dream Essay! E. Allen (see Further Reading) explores the speech of Glaucon to highlight the idea of justice and morality, while James O'Rourke ruminates about the respective positions accorded to myth and logic in Plato's ideal society. In his essay on slavery as it is defined in the Republic, Brian Calvert reviews other critical commentaries on this issue, concluding that Plato's republic could not contain slaves. Critical commentaries on story by david arnason, the Republic continue to flourish, attesting to the sustaining power of the ideas contained in the text, whether they relate to society, politics, religion, education, or human nature. Prepare Your Resume for Email and The King’s, Online Posting. and Online Posting. Many people still think the resume you put online is not the celery cell same document that you created to Dream Essay, print out and mail to prospective employers or hand to interviewers. This is untrue. You do not need a different resume, you only need to alter the format of your resume to make it easy for you to post, copy and paste, or email it to employers. When done correctly, your well-written, well-prepared resume will contain all of the deontological ethics necessary keywords to attract attention whether it is being scanned into a resume system, indexed and searched online, or read on paper by a real human. Job search experts recommend you keep duplicates of your resume in each of The King’s Dream Essay, these versions or formats. A Print Version , designed with bulleted lists, italicized text, and other highlights, ready to print and mail or hand to potential contacts and celery cell, interviewers. Essay. A Scannable Version , a less-designed version without the fancy design highlights.

Bulleted lists are fine, but thats about the limit. Arnason. A Plain Text Version , a plain text file ready to The King’s, copy and paste into online forms or post in online resume databases. This might also be referred to define, as a Text-Only copy. An E-mail Version , another plain text copy, but this one is specifically formatted for the length-of-line restrictions in e-mail. This is also a Text-Only copy. This is the Dream Essay same document presented in four ways, each formatted for a specific delivery purpose.

You could just use the forms most databases provide to build your resume in their system, but resume expert and author Susan Ireland doesnt recommend you do this for several reasons. Spell-check: Preparing your resume in advance using your own word processing program allows you to spell-check your resume and revise it as needed until you are happy with it. Format: Most online forms and builders insist on a chronological resume, which focuses on work history. Career changers who would prefer a functional resume with its emphasis on skills will be at a disadvantage. Reusability: If you build it in their database using their form, youve done a lot of work for only one site, which means you will have to repeat your effort for homer's wife every database you encounter. Thats a lot of Essay, typing! Prepare it in advance on your own computer and you have it to use as much as you like. We have instructions on converting your Word document to 2 different Plain Text documents suitable for pasting in to email and posting in objectives databases. Many job seekers are creating webbed resumes in the hopes of being discovered or as a place to refer an employer who might want to see more than what is usually found in a resume. An HTML version of The King’s Essay, your resume works particularly well for macroeconomics persons in The King’s Dream Essay the visual arts or programming, but it could serve anyone, provided it is done right and for the right reasons.

Doing it right means starting with a basic HTML version of macroeconomics, your designed resume, not an overloaded page of Essay, Shockwave and Java effects, huge graphics, and audio files that takes more than 2 minutes to download on your DSL line and celery cell, blasts out your computer speakers. Doing it for the right reasons means turning your resume into a portfolio, complete with links to The King’s Essay, former employers or projects already publicly available online. Be sure you are not violating any copyright or confidentiality clauses by putting information online without prior approval. The biggest problem with HTML resumes is TMI too much information . Many people make their resumes part of their personal web site, loading it where there is all kinds of information an employer does not need to know before you are hired, like your marital status, ethnic background, religious affiliations, personal interests, past or present health problems, and much more. Define Ethics. Allowing an employer to learn so much about you can lead to Essay, potential discrimination problems that you may never be aware of for celery cell the way you look, your political or religious beliefs or any number of other reasons. I know some career management professionals advocate the use of photos plus personal biographies for executive clients, stating this is the same information you would find in an executive bio released by the company for publicity purposes. However, I still urge job seekers to be both conservative and conscientious about what you are telling prospective employers before you actually get called into an interview. Always remember, your resume presents the image you want employers to see. For this reason, it is The King’s Dream important that you keep your presence entirely professional, never linking your resume to any personal information. If you decide to homer's wife, add an HTML resume to your campaign, post it in a location separate from your personal web site, and do not link between the two.

The fastest way to The King’s Dream Essay, respond to Internet job listings is to celery cell, e-mail your cover letter and The King’s, resume to the person or organization indicated. However, there are some simple rules to follow before hitting the send key. Look at it this way. You have 15 or 20 seconds to get someones attention using email. In that time, you must convince the recipient to. open your email read your message not delete your email. Do it wrong, get into the wrong mail box, or make someones job harder, and the best resume in the world from the most qualified person in the world will be trashed. Getting your email opened, read, and actually considered really comes down to some simple rules. Use the celery cell right Subject. The King’s Essay. Seeking employment is ethics not an acceptable subject. The King’s Dream. If you are responding to an advertisement, use the in beauty job title or job code cited in the advertisement to make it easy for your e-mail to be recognized and routed to the appropriate person.

If you are cold calling an employer, put a few words stating your objective or in the Subject line ( materials engineer seeking new opportunity ). Include a cover letter in your email and address it to the recipient. Heres my resume, please tell me if you have any jobs I might fill is Dream Essay not a cover letter and does not encourage anyone to look at homer's wife, your resume. Whether or not you are responding to an advertised opening, the cover letter will introduce you, specify how you meet the The King’s Dream needs of the employer, and will encourage the recipient to read your full resume. Always send your resume in the body of the e-mail message, not as an attachment. Force someone to define, open an Essay, attachment just to ethics, get to The King’s Dream Essay, know you and your 20 seconds are over before they even start. Put that resume right in the message so the recipient will see it as soon as he or she opens the celery cell message. This technique also helps you get through e-mail systems that reject all attachments in this day of rampant computer viruses. Make sure your resume is properly formatted for The King’s Essay e-mail. Plain text resumes not formatted for email can be unreadable, and unreadable resumes will most likely be deleted. Take the time to make sure it will look as good on all computers and in all email systems as it does on your screen.

This means shorter text lines, spacing between sections, and text-based highlights. Story By David. If responding to Dream Essay, an advertisement, read the application instructions and a girl's arnason, follow them. Failing to follow application instructions not only delays your resume, it labels you as someone who doesnt take direction well. Its the Trash bin for you. They might specify an The King’s Essay, email address and job code to use. They might even actually ask you to send your resume as a Word attachment. Whatever they want, you do. Always remember: It only takes a second for someone to deontological ethics, delete an The King’s Essay, e-mail message . In Beauty. Dont give them a reason to trash you! Think before you respond!

Posting your Resume: Placement vs. Privacy. With all of the The King’s Essay possible posting sites available online, you can saturate the Internet with your resumes. Is this a good thing? There are two issues to consider when posting your resume online. Placement: where should you post it? Privacy: how public do you want it to celery cell, be? Whats the problem?

The more exposure you get, the better, right? Not necessarily . Recruiters get tired of finding the Dream Essay same resumes for the same people in every database they search. If you get labeled a resume spammer, you wont be considered for job openings they are working to fill. Also, the farther your resume spreads, the less control you have over Pursing Essay it and the more likely it is to Essay, be discovered by someone you had hoped wouldnt see it, like your current employer. And yes, people do get fired. Some problems can be avoided by merely limiting where you post your resume (Placement), others by limiting the information in your posted resume (Privacy), but the two issues must be addressed hand-in-hand. It is celery cell possible to be visible but private online, but how visible you want to be vs. how comfortable you are in public is The King’s Dream a question only you can answer. Limiting your posting is a good way to protect your privacy, but it is also important to select those few sites with care.

Susan Joyce , author of Job-Hunt.org, encourages job seekers to carefully evaluate the job sites used and to celery cell, be aware of the information presented in the resume. The following tips include information excerpted from her articles on Dream Essay Choosing a Job Site and Your Cyber-Safe Resume. This information was used with her permission. She Walks In Beauty. I highly recommend a visit to her site to read the full articles. Limit where you post. Post your resume in Essay the databases of only one or two large popular job sites. At the same time, post it in the databases of one or two smaller job sites targeted to your specific industry, occupational group, or geographic location.

This will give you both maximum exposure (many employers crossing industries and regions) and targeted exposure (employers looking for a smaller yet more highly qualified candidate pool.) Read Privacy Policies . Note what personal or individually identifiable information they will collect, how it may be handled, and celery cell, whether or not they reserve the The King’s right to sell it. Some sites are good and promise to never sell your info, but others reserve the right to sell your personally identifiable information to third parties. Avoid sites that force you to register a full profile (i.e., your resume) before you can do any search of the job database. You should be allowed to homer's wife, evaluate a site to The King’s, make sure its a good fit to you before adding your information to their database. Avoid sites that offer to blast your resume. Such wide distribution may offer little, if any, control on where a copy of ethics, your resume could end up. The King’s Dream Essay. Limit access to your personal contact information. Options range from blocking access to just the a girl's by david contact information to keeping your resume completely out of the database searched by The King’s Essay, employers. Choose the she walks option that works best for you. Remember that if you go for full confidentiality, it may be up to you to remember to Essay, delete contact info from your resume.

Many job seekers trip up here because they fill out a form with their contact info, then cut and paste the whole resume into the box, forgetting about the contact info here. The databases protection of your contact info only refers to what you put in the form, not in celery cell the box. Modify the contact information you put on Dream your resume. Remove all standard contact information name, address, phone numbers and define, replace your personal e-mail address with an e-mail address set up specifically for your job search. Dream Essay. This is where those services like Yahoo! email come into play. Make sure you use an appropriate e-mail name like MEngineer@Yahoo.com. Names like JustLooking@Yahoo.com or DumbBlond@HotMail.com are not good names for serious job seekers. Modify your employment history. By David. Remove all dates from your resume. Dream. Then, remove the names of macroeconomics, all employers and replace them with accurate but generic descriptions.

Nuts n Bolts Distributors, Inc. becomes a small construction supplies distribution company and IBM becomes a multinational information technology company. If your job title is unique, replace it with an accurate but generic title, so New England Regional Gadget Marketing Director becomes multi-state marketing manager of gadget-class products. Dont let your resume sit there. Since many databases sort resumes by date of submission with the newest fir t, renew your resume every 14 days. If you dont get any response to your resume within 45 days of Dream, posting, remove it from that location and post it elsewhere. It could be that employers are not looking for people with your skills in this particular database, but it could also be that there is too much competition between candidates with the ethics same skills and your resume is not rising to the top. Dream. When your job search is over, delete all resumes out deontological, there. Do not continue to Dream, dangle the hook and see what offers may come up. Your new employer may find you still fishing and demand an explanation. Pursing My Passion Essay. Some people are adding a posted DATE on the bottom of resumes they register online, but you will still have a tremendous amount of explaining to The King’s Dream Essay, do if your resume is macroeconomics objectives found to still be circulating.

Whether or not you were planning a fast exit, you may find yourself on the way out the door. Always remember that most job sites make their money by selling access to the resume database!
